Diwali has always been a festival of launches, be it launches of crackers or automobiles. This Diwali too has exciting launches on offer. Earlier, Asus-Google joint venture made news about the launch of the upcoming Asus Google Nexus 7 this Diwali, but the tablet was launched last month. Now it’s Yamaha that has attracted the eyeballs across the two-wheeler segment.
Yamaha is reported to be planning to enter the scooter segment. If rumors are to be believed then the two-wheeler giant will hit the scooter segment this Diwali with Yamaha Ray. Yamaha had already showcased the Ray at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo that acted as a teaser in the scooter segment. The scooter attracted many eyeballs and left people mesmerized with its features.
Yamaha has already started conducting tests of the Ray. Currently, the scooter is being tested under different roads at different places. This has led to the rumors that it might be the Dusshera-Diwali period that the company might launch its first scooter in the market. The scooter will be manufactured at the company’s Surajpur plant in Uttar Pradesh.
If some inside scoops are to be believed, the company hasn’t put any cloak over the upcoming scooter. This in turn means that we will soon be able to see the scooter being launched. The spy shots of the scooter demonstrated no change being made on the model. The scooter is expected to be something great in a smaller package. Its low weight is the most appealing factor which has worked in attracting higher footfalls on the Yamaha stall in this year’s Auto Expo.
The scooter is expected to feature a 4-stroke 125cc engine. Word is, telescopic forks too will be featured to deal with pot holes of the Indian roads. With John Abraham being the brand ambassador of the company, this upcoming peppy scooter from Yamaha is expected to be appealing amongst female population in the country.
