French driver and 7 time champ of the WRC, Sebastien Loeb was recently seen testing a new KTM RC8 R. owner of the 2008 model of the KTM RC8, Sebastien decided to try out the new R edition that is fitted with an exhaust system from Akrapovic and Michelin tyres on the French Bresse Circuit.
After trying a few laps on the bike, the rider declared that he was quite impressed with its performance. The sports oriented bike is well-suited for the FIM Superstock Homologation, making it eligible during official championships.
Loeb said that it was interesting to compare the new variant of this bike, with his 2008 year variant. He was really happy with it. It was quite easy to tackle corners with this bike, being agile and easy corresponding to the technique of this circuit. The motor has changed as well, providing power along with the new twin-cylinder’s flexibility so that it provided less vibration and more reach.
The marketing manager for the southern Europe division of KTM, Jerome Delziani, said that he was pleased with their collaboration as well as the interest that Sebastien has showed in their modes from 2006. This bike follows the change in their Superbike range of bikes. At their company, their DNA is made of competition, with Sebastien being a great model and inspiration.
The new KTM 1190 RC8 R is able to deliver a max power of 175bhp and a peak torque of 127Nm. It has an overall weight of 185kgs and a dual plug ignition. Meanwhile, the new 1190 RC8 R Track variant is the same model’s race ready variant. While the 1190 RC8 R is priced at $16,499, the bike’s Track variant is priced at $19,999.
