Bajaj Auto, the second biggest two wheeler manufacturer in India is now eyeing Honda as well as other Japanese bike manufacturers in the category of sport bike. Many people by now must have seen the Bajaj TVC that says their Pulsar manages to sell 5x than the sport bike models from Japan in India. In spite of growing revenues among two wheeler manufacturers, who are bullish about their growth this year, they are facing increasing pressure as the price of important commodities like rubber and steel rises. This has caused many manufacturers to contemplate increasing their product prices. According to recent reports, both Bajaj Auto and TVS Motors are opting for price hikes in the coming weeks, while the segment leader, Hero Honda has decided to wait and watch the market reaction. The Indian biking scene and with desi manufacturers started with the Bajaj Pulsar twins. Before that all India did was bring in 100 cc econo commuters and some two strokes. After their split with Kawasaki, Bajaj soldiered on with the Pulsar twins and then the Discover in 2003. Indian bike manufacturer Bajaj has accepted the proposed offer by Australian company KTM to rise its stake from 30% to 90% share in the on and off road manufacturer. According to the Economic Times, Bajaj one among largest motorcycle manufactures in the world is to raise its current stake of 30% in KTM to controlling position of 90% stake. Bajaj has accepted the offer and initially will buy 21% of shares to get a total of 51% share holding where the company can control the KTM and later acquire remaining shares up to 90%.
