The Indian version of the MotoCross is the RotoCross organized by Rotary Club of Deonar and Sportscraft.
Sportscraft is the body behind motorsport events organized all over the country. Till date Sportscraft has organized over 250 moto events and this time they are marking Mumbai in their list of locations. The moto event will be organized along with Rotary Club of Deonar, attracting motorcycle enthusiasts to a unique motorcycle event where rider’s skills and abilities will be put to test.
The event will be starting on 20th February 2011, at Somaiya grounds Sion East, Mumbai. RotoCross will be presented by Kotak Mahindra in support with Eureka Forbs Ltd.
Somaiya gounds has been turned into a dirt track with zig-zag course where riders will be completing the course; each of the riders will be evaluated on hundredth of a second. The track is with obstacles, if a rider hits any of the obstacles he will be charged with 10 second penalty. The rider to complete the course taking minimum time will be announced as a winner.
Rotary Club is the co organizer of the RotoCross. Rotary Club is associated to social causes. Their major work in Mumbai includes Burns Clinic at Airoli, fighting polio in most rural parts of Maharashtra and supporting and rehabilitating villages near Karjat.
By organizing a motorsport competition Rotary Club will be promoting it’s self and will be encouraging support from public. Head of Sportscraft Shrikant Karani says that, the major motive behind organizing such an event is gaining support towards Rotary club Deonar, while doing this they will also spread awareness for safe driving of four wheels and two wheels.
Most of the motorcycle enthusiasts are excited as the show will be starting with a mass race. Later the RotoCross will only examine how safe rider you are, keeping a track on time. The event is open for all where people can come and view the event if they dint got the chance to participate.
