Mahindra Racing congratulates Sarath Kumar, rider to become the 1st Indian for scoring points in Italian Championship Mahindra Racing, the 1st Indian team for competing in Italian Championship, created history when Sarath Kumar, their Indian rider scored his 1st points in competitive Championship during the 2nd round in Imola. With Mr. Riccardo Moretti, ex-Italian champion, the team got off to a spectacular start in the maiden entry in Italian championship for 2012 winning the opening 2 rounds in 125 GP segment. Sarath finished 7th in 2nd round for a personal tally of 9 points after a technological problem forced him into early retirement in opening race.

At the special ceremony in Chennai for felicitating Kumar for his achievement, Mr. Mufaddal Choonia, Chief Operating Officer at Mahindra Racing stated that they are quite delighted by the performance of Kumar at Imola and are confident that Sarath will only get better. Riding in championship with such high standards is a great chance for him for developing into a world class rider and honing his skills.
The Italian Road-Racing Championship is staged on the best race tracks of the country from March to October more than eight rounds and 6 weekends. The show is structured by Campionato Italiano Velocita (CIV) and Federazione Motociclistica Italiana (FMI). Formerly, world-class riders like Giacomo Agostini, Marco Melandri and Valentino Rossi, among others have been Italian Championship winners.
