At EICMA 2012 International Motorcycle Show, KTM showcased its KTM 390 Duke which was basically a display model. It was actually a Duke 200 with slightly bigger bore and heavy engine. Recently Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM revealed that showcased KTM Duke 390 will not be coming to Indian market, rather the Duke 390 for Indian market will be a fully faired model. He has also talked about a supermotard that is a faired sports bike as well as a naked bike.
He also mentioned that the touring model to replace supermotard. This perfectly makes sense because developing of supermotard will require huge cost to develop. In comparison to that a touring will be relatively easier to develop over a sports or naked bike. Additionally some changes have been made over the seating, luggage support and wind protection.
It is clear that the touring model will be arriving a little later after the full faired model of KTM Duke 390. The Duke 390 is powered by a 375cc engine that churns out a power of about 47 ps. The Duke 390 is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.8 to Rs. 2.2 lakh.
