Five Indian Air Force bikers have engraved their names in the Limca Book of World Records by carrying the challenge of passing ten Himalayan passes in just 51 hours on their Hero Impulse bikes.
The team consists of Goutam Dhar Gupta (Warrant officer), Vikram Singh Yadav (JWO), Sgt. Ravinder Singh Rawat, Sgt. Madan Mohan Reddyand Sgt. Tejinder Singh Kapoor. The IAF team not only managed to cross three passes but also broke the previous record of 20,493 feet by riding up to 20,540 feet. All the five riders were congratulated by Jyoti Narayan Burma Air Chief Marshall, air officer incharge administration, air headquarters, IAF in the presence of Senior VP Hero MotoCorp, Mr. Anil Dua.
The team started on May 16 from Leh after which they managed to pass through difficult terrains of Marsimik la, Khardung La and Chang La passes in Himalayas, riding through the highest roads in the world. The team also crossed other Himalayan passes like Tanglang La, Lachulung La, Horlam La, Baralacha La, Jalori and Rohtang. After travelling through these passes the record breaker ride came to an end on May 20th.
