South Korean bike brand Hyosung is trying hard to establish itself as a well-known name in the Indian bike market with its Pune based DSK Motowheels. Hyosung recently launched its premium sports bike GT250R to compete with segment leaders like Ninja 250R and Honda CBR250R. But for now company is aiming to get the big piece of cake in commuter market segment. For this, the company has decided to work on a 150cc bike that will be developed according to Indian commuter needs. It will not be a high-end bike like R15 from Yamaha, rather it will be a simple commuter bike.
Currently, Indian bike market has tons of choices to offer in the 150cc including the Bajaj Pulsar 150cc that is the market leader in the segment, Yamaha FZ and Honda Unicorn. So, any newbie will have to be well prepared enough to fight with these leaders not only on technical basis but also with pricing and mileage. As we all know that fuel economy and pricing are most vital factor in this segment. Although the bike is still in the initial phases of development but there are chances that Hyosung might show it in 2014 Auto show. So, there is lot of time left and in an ever-changing market like India one cannot predict how customer would react towards a new commuter bike. For now, Hyosung is mainly concentrating on their premium bikes and in expanding their dealership network.
