As promised, we are here with the coverage of the launch of the Hyosung bikes in Mumbai. The duo of bikes was launched in Delhi last night but the Mumbai launch was done today. Ronit Motors from Lower Parel are handling the Mumbai operations of the Hyosung Garware tie up. The two bikes displayed were the Hyosung GT650R and the ST7. Inaugurating the showroom were Diya Garware Ibanez, the Managing Director of Garware Motors and Mr Jairaj Bhagchandani, Managing Director of Ronit Motors. Diya in an exclusive interview with Indiandrives said that she was very excited about the Mumbai launch as there have been more than 30 pre order bookings from here. On being asked about the debacle with Kinetic Motors early on, she said that it was Kinetic who weren’t able to get their act together and hence Hyosung had to withdraw from the Indian market. She said that the company plans to launch 3 more new bikes by the end of 2012.
The company plans to sell about 500 bikes in a year. That isn’t a lofty target considering that about a quarter of the bookings have already come in within a day of the booking. Mr. Bhagchandani said even before the showroom opened up, they had 180 enquiries. The aftersales service is being handled at Ronit’s service outlet near Chitra Cinemas in Dadar, Mumbai. The initial booking amount for both the bikes is Rs 50,000 and deliveries would take place after 45-60 days. One of the sales personnel said that the GT650R would deliver an overall fuel efficiency of 17 kmpl while the ST07 would deliver 23 kmpl. The on-road price of the Hyosung GT650R is Rs 5.52 lakhs while the Hyosung ST7 price is Rs 6.21 lakhs. All these prices are for Mumbai.
