BMW is known for making the best sport bikes in the world. S1000RR is one such product. But right now it is facing a recall. Previously we saw a recall for the same in Canada too. And as of now, approximately 2,385 bikes are being recalled in USA. Recall is announced regarding side-stand issue. It is reported that side-stand becomes loose on parking and bike tends to fall.
BMW cited it as a manufacturing fault. Parking on side-stand looses bolt, which results in separation of stand from the frame. Auto experts also say that this may further lead to separation of gear as well. So to avoid all these incidents, manufacturer has recalled all the defected units.
Defects were found on bikes which were rolled out from the factory in between September 2011-December 2012. Company will start its ‘recall’ process in Jan’13. Bikers will just have to drop in their bikes at the local dealerships and the dealers will do the rest.
Experts say that manufacturer will clean plate threads and would also replace bolts. Earlier, S1000RR has also faced recall because of connecting rod bolts.
Here we can say that BMW S1000RR needs to beef up its quality and assurance standards. Such minor issues may hamper its image to a larger extent.
