Bajaj has always known for their scooters. Since the post-independence era Bajaj has ruled the scooter segment for years. Even the tag line ‘Hamara Bajaj’ became a household symbol. The scooters were known for their quality and reliability and have a long life cycle.
But with the introduction of low cost motorcycles in the Indian market scooter soon fade out. Bajaj took it as the time for their transition also and ended the long reign of classic scooter market.
However, it seems that Bajaj as some plans to revive its scooter segment again in India. Company has a long history of manufacturing and selling scooters and is just analyzing the market to predict the right time and moment for the launch. It was started with the CEO and MD, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj. For now the R&D official are busy in the developing a motorcycle. It is speculated that the bike might be powered by the 125 to 150cc engine with good fuel economy and performance. It is possible that the scooter may house slightly modified engine of Discover 125ST. other feature may include front telescopic suspension, electric start and automatic transmission. The scooter segment is again booming in Indian market and the time is just adequate for the company to reveal its scooter.
We are expecting Bajaj to price its new product competitively as the competition is too tough in the segment with Yamaha and Honda ruling the segment.
