Audi e-bike Worthersee introduced

Heath experts say biking helps you reduce weight and keep fit. Well, Audi claims to differ with the new e-bike Worthersee. The Worthersee Festival is playing host to a flock of Volkswagen vehicles gathering at the Austrian motoring fest. Also dazzling the show is Audi with its spectacular fleet, and the e-bike Worthersee has garnered special interest by visitors.

Referred to as “an extremely emotion-inspiring sports machine,” the Audi e-bike Wörthersee features an ultra lightweight carbon-fiber frame, sitting at just 47 pounds. Inspired by trail bikes, the e-bike Wörthersee is described as “Audi core competences of design, ultra e-torn and connect,” by Audi’s design head Wolfgang Egger.

Power is drawn from an electric motor sitting under the bottom bracket, supplying 3 hp via seamlessly fitted lithium-ion batteries that can be swapped for improved range. In full electric mode, called “e-Grip,” the e-bike Wörthersee can hit speeds up to 31 mph. On full charge of 2.5 hours, the e-bike delivers 44 miles range.

That is an impressive figure by an electric powered bike. In addition, Audi claims that the e-bike Wörthersee can top 50 mph with an experienced rider pedaling in support.

Though the e-bike Wörthersee is inspired from trail bikes, it has a more practical approach, featuring LED lights at the front and rear. Moreover, for the rider’s comfort, the seat can be adjusted mechanically by toggling the controls on the console. The thing that sets e-bike Wörthersee clear of other electric bikes is the on-board touchscreen computer. It can link the smartphone to the on-board computer, which in turn is wirelessly linked to a helmet cam that can record videos on the go.

If that wasn’t enough to impress us, the e-bike Wörthersee has another trick up its sleeve. The e-bike Wörthersee features a wheelie mode under which, the front wheel pops up and the rider can glide on the rear wheels alone without hassling to balance. Whether this thrill wheel will make it to production or not, we don’t know. But, it surely is not the last product from the brand with four rings.
