Indian bike lovers have been always treated to a healthy but now stale dose of 150 cc machines which promise to have great fuel efficiency as well as performance. There are very rare instances where Indian bikes have gone above this capacity spare for 2-3 models. If we ignore the elephants namely Royal Enfield which have capacities of more than 350cc, then we have a handful of bikes namely the Hero Honda Karizma, Bajaj Pulsar 220 and the soon to be launched Honda CBR 250R. There is more good news coming for the bike aficionados now.
Yamaha, the pioneer of performance biking in India is all ready to introduce a 250 cc bike in the Indian market. The launch would be around Diwali time but then it is yet to be confirmed by Yamaha. A few of our reporters have even seen a heavily disguised naked version of the same doing rounds. It is supposed to be an extension of the Yamaha FZ series. It will have a single cylinder fuel injected 250 cc engine with liquid and air cooling. It would also have 4 valves and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. Discs at the front and rear are to be for given. Considering the pricing of the Yamaha R15 in India, it is most likely that the 250cc bike would be priced around Rs 1.75 lakhs to 2.0 lakhs.
