A 3rd 2-wheeler HMSI plant in Karnataka

HMSI (Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India), a fully owned subsidiary of Honda that produces 2 wheelers in the country has inaugurated their 3rd 2-wheeler plant to aid in production of more 2 wheelers due to increasing demand and the rapidly growing bike market in India. The area allotted would spread 3,50,000 sq meters and is situated at Narsapura in Karnataka, around 52 kilometres from Bangalore. The plant would be fully operational in the beginning 6 months of 2013 and aims at producing 1.2 million 2 wheelers annually. The plant would employ 3000 people and the total investment put into it would be Rs. 10 billion. HMSI would be incorporating technologies used at Tapukara and Manesar plants [...]

We were right when we reported yesterday that Royal Enfield would be launching souped versions of their motorcycles. Mr Venki Padmanabhan, the CEO of Royal Enfield and Shaaji Koshy, the Senior VP for Sales were present at the do. Saying that the bikes were for leisure, we expected that there would be a new café racer on the block, however, what came out were just two new color schemes for the Royal Enfield Classic 500 version, namely Desert Storm and Classic Chrome. Royal Enfield is a company which is pretty much relaxed on the bikes it launches or even sells. So when news trickles in that the company is geared up to launch two new bikes on 29th September 2011. We suspect that these would be the just souped up versions of previous bikes.
