Honda Motor Company’s CEO, Takanobu Ito, will soon be present during the inauguration of their new two-wheeler plant, tomorrow in Rajasthan, in spite of having a busy schedule. This can be seen as the increasing importance of the two wheeler market in India for Honda. Their separation from long time JV partner, Hero Group, resulted in the company losing around five million annual bike sales to their former ally. The company is now quickly trying to decrease this deficit, which would explain the company getting ready to open their second plant, and already announcing their plan to launch their third plant in Karnataka. Yamaha India recently announced that they plan to double their motorcycle sales to around 500,000 units in 2011. The MD and CEO of the company, Hiroyuki Suzuki, was quoted as saying that they plan to sell around 5 lakh motorcycles this year. They have a target of selling around 3.5 lakh in India, and exporting the remaining 1.5 lakh bikes. Last year, the company sold around 2.5 lakh bikes. He also added that their company had products in all of the five segments, which include standard, executive, basic, deluxe and premium. Global motorcycle manufacturer, Zero Motorcycles, lead when it comes to producing electric bikes. The manufacturer was recently awarded by the 2011 AMA MiniMoto SX, held in Las Vegas. The manufacturer had one of best race time for both their electric and gas variant motorcycles. They also dominated during the electric bike race on their electric Zero MX bike. Aspar Ducati to Increase Involvement in MotoGP

Ducati could soon increase their involvement in MotoGP to include seven bikes for 2012. The Aspar group recently confirmed that they were discussing a deal for running two-rider effort by the next season. The Spanish group which is run by Jorge Martinez the former world champ of 125GP is looking forwards to securing rent of 2 GP12 bikes in the 1000cc new MotoGP class. Aspar Group, currently operates one rider endeavour through Hector Barbera, however Gino Borsoi, their Sporting Director reportedly said that they have started considering two motorcycles and have already had a talk with Ducati.
