After their split from Honda, Hero Motors have attained a new identity and the company has been renamed now as Hero MotoCorp. A mega event in London, which was attended by the who is who of Bollywood. In this event, the company displayed their new logo, plans for the future, investments and also two new two wheelers. The stage was graced with the presence of the king of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan followed by Anushka Sharma, international singer Akon, music maestro A R Rahman and also star cricketer Irfan Khan.
More than 50k motorcycles have been sold by Hero MotoCorp in the last two months and it is said that nearly in every 18 seconds every two wheeler sold is a Hero MotoCorp product. After the divorce, Hero have put in their own R&D at work and now boast of having one of the most comprehensive R&D teams in the whole world. Also, the company outlined their plans for the next 5 years and as to how much investment they would be pumping in.
Of more interest was the showcasing of a dirt bike by the company. This is a real big leap by the company after the introduction of the CBZ and Karizma quite earlier on. This new bike would be called as Impulse and would be powered by the same 149 cc engine from the Unicorn. It will develop 13.2 Bhp of power and will proclaim the new face of Hero MotoCorp. Typical of off-road bikes, this one would have long fork suspensions and also a front mud guard which would be a floating piece.the instrument cluster is also said to be very trendy and supposedly digital. The fuel tank is also set on the higher side. A 5 speed gearbox does the duties of transferring power and the bike is tuned more for low and mid range response. A 110 mm rear drum and 240 mm front disc would be standard and true to its off-roading creds, this bike would have a 245 mm ground clearance.
A new 110 cc scooter was also showcased and it would be called as Maestro. It is targeted at the male audience and is brawny just like the discontinued Kinetic Blaze. Expect the launch of these products very soon in the Indian market.
