Hyosung bikes begin their second innings in India through their partnership with Garware Motors. Their entry into the Indian market was with the two bikes namely Hyosung GT650R and the Hyosung ST7. With these bikes, the company aims to sell atleast 1200 units this year. The company has also announced that there are plans of bringing in a naked street fighter version of the GT650R in October while the volumes generating 250cc bike, most likely the Comet would be reintroduced next year.
As of now the company has their show rooms in about 12 cities. About 13-15 bikes are sold each month from these show rooms. Garware Motors as also Hyosung Motors have set up their assembly line in Wai which is in Maharastra. This facility boasts of assembling upto 10 bikes in a particular day. As of now, the investment in this assembly line is Rs 20 crores. The GT650R is priced at Rs 4.75 lakhs and Rs 4.90 lakhs for the single and dual tone colors respectively. The 700 cc cruiser bike, the Hyosung ST-7 is priced at a premium of Rs 5.69 lakhs. All these prices are ex-show room, Mumbai. As of now, Hyosung has managed to sell about 250 bikes in India.
